refining the SWEEP' scale option - Dom - 02-21-2013

Hi,

Would it be possible to add a toggle, or option, for the sweep command, that would limit the scaling option to only 2d screen axis?

For example, when using sweep with the view align to one of the main ortho axis, I'd like the scaling to act on 2 axis only, for example x+y if my view is aligned to z.

When chaining multiples sweeps with different scaling, it could be useful, and avoid some tweaking afterwards.

Dom.

Not sure if i understood correctly your question, Dom, but i tried to reproduced it in video: multiple faces, being sweeped, with the view aligned to z. What i could see is that they were scaled in XY axis simultaneouslly. What are you asking for?

Thanks for the video, but I did explain myselft badly, sorry.
I should have said that I'd like if we'd have an option for the scale to act on only one axis (not too, as I dumbly said). I use sweep/free from an ortho axis aligned view, most of the time, and as such I like no to have the scaling act on more than one axis. sorry again for my previous fumble with words.

Really nice idea, i can understand now: many modelling possibilities can come from a simple toogle option!
If i got exactly the idea,
lets suppose Z is the current Sweep orientation axis and scale is planar to XY.
Lets the user to be able to hit some key (toggle idea)
and constraint scale to X, or scale to Y, or return scale to XY planar!!!!
Great! Smile

There is an Optigon forum thread where he was asking for Sweep improvement suggestions: this one of yours should be go there, Dom: http://www.wings3d.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=22
