Cannot open Wings 3D 64b in w10 - rcrichfl - 09-12-2016
Tried both versions 1.5.4 and 2.0.5 in two different Laptops. Both running W10. The program opens, only showing the wing 3D logo at the top left, and a white screen. erl shows one line, then underneath "1>" and nothing else.
Also tried 2.0.5 32b. Same results in both laptops.
Will open another issue ref 1.5.4.

I'm not sure that is the behaviour I experienced when I first installed it on Win10, but please try: in the installer select the option that will force the Microsoft DLL's to be installed (it uses to be shown greyed as it was already installed).

Wings 2.1.3 64b starts normally only the first time after installation. Then if i make some modifications in th UI or in the preferences and close the program when I reopen it looks like nothing happens. erl.exe is running and i have to close it with ctrl+alt+del. Wings won't open no matter how many times I try to reopen it. If i delete preferences.txt file and close erl.exe with ctrl+alt+del then wings starts normally again as I already said but only once. When I close it, it writes the preferences.txt file and from thereon doesn't start again.
HP laptop with Windows 10 X64 pro anniversary addition
AMD A8-7410 APU with AMD RADEON R5 graphics
with latest driver version 16.9.2
PS wings3D 2.1.3 32b works fine in another old laptop with windows 7 home 32bit and nvidia GeForce Go 7600!!! graphics

Do you get wings_crash.dump file on the desktop?
If so post the content here.
Otherwise open properties on your Wings3d 2.1.3 shortcut
and add --debug to the end of the target line.
You should get a werl window see if you get any output in that window and paste it here.

You have unicode characters in your name, which causes problems here,
I will fix this (stupid) problem but more might follow when this one is solved.

infinder, you can temporarily replace your wings_pref.beam with this one, so you can help us to debug this version.
It can be found in a place like: C:\Program Files\wings3d_2.1.3\lib\wings-2.1.3\ebin

Thanks micheus. It works so far.. Wings doesn't remember exact window position when reopen it(except in fullscreen mode) but at least it doesn't crash. Another minor problem is it leaves open the erlang window on exit. It leaves open as many windows as many times i open and exit wings. All of them have the same text:

infinder remove '--debug' from your shortcut and erlang window will be removed.

thank you dgud. Now only a fix for the exact window position, but it isn't something i can't live without
