How to apply color to models? - 3D-User46 - 03-01-2022

Hello Everyone,
I have a serious question, as to how to apply certain color to any models.

Sincerely, Richard

Hi 3D-User46 and welcome.

You can do that by using vertex colour or a material with a colour and/or using a texture.

To use the vertex colour method we need to make available the Palette window.
Then, after select the desired elements (vertex, edge, face or body - the entire object) we just click the mouse on the slot were is the colour we want to use.

For the material approach, after we select the desired faces, in the context menu we choose the Material option using the RMB to create a new material or the LMB to assign a existing one.

If you need to paint textures to add details to the model, then we first need to unwrap the mesh (UV Mapping). After that, we are going to be able to export the texture image for paint it using a software like Gimp/Photoshop.

In this old tutorial (still valid despite the old UI) you have an mix of all of this with the baking vertex colour to a texture included.

I hope this can be a start point for you. Fell free to ask more questions.

p.s. I'm going to move your post to the Interface & Usage session.
