Foam insertion - ggaliens - 11-03-2013 Foam Insertion is now automated. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHcIAYEYeKM&feature=youtu.be RE: Foam insertion - Dimitri - 11-19-2013 I tried to fill a cube with 'foam' but the 'foam' is overflowing the boundaries of the cube. Is there a way of keeping it inside the boundaries? And, also, is there a way of changing the numbers and sizes of the 'foam' particles? RE: Foam insertion - ggaliens - 11-20-2013 The way to change the size of the particles is to change the size of the receiving object (FOR NOW). There is a control that lets you specify how close to boundary a foam particle centroid is allowed. This can help you clip it a bit more and leave a "GAP" . This is not foam that OBEYS or talks to boundary directly. Shapes are maintained. So not clipped. So never going to be a perfect fit with this particular feature. I have some other approaches that are closer fits. RE: Foam insertion - Dimitri - 11-20-2013 'There is a control that lets you specify how close to boundary a foam particle centroid is allowed.' Where is it? The only two controls appearing in the tab are 'min proximity' and 'max proximity'. I did try both... none of them seems to make such a thing. RE: Foam insertion - ggaliens - 11-20-2013 Those are the controls. The units are generally in the scale of the tidbits diameter Try 1.2 for Min and 5.0 for max. See what you get. RE: Foam insertion - Dimitri - 11-20-2013 There is no any option for tidbits size in the tab appearing, the only two options are those of 'min' and 'max proximity' (body mode, 'monodisperse foam filler' command)... are you sure that you have uploaded the latest version in your downloads page? Also... when I put the values you said, there appears nothing in the scene... RE: Foam insertion - ggaliens - 11-21-2013 You mis-interpreted what I wrote. Is the size of a TIDBIT is ... X (based on wings3d loading it and readings units). Then if you use Min 1.2 and Max 3.5 and apply this to a model that is 60X units high .... then you might get foam about 3-5 tidmits deep (crust of foam) hollow inside. Scale your target model to larger if you want more foam inside it. Simple. Think os MIN and MAX is being somewhat close to how many layers of crust deep you want your foam. RE: Foam insertion - Dimitri - 11-21-2013 Ok. will try it... : - ) RE: Foam insertion - Dimitri - 11-22-2013 Tried it... it is working ok. The 'secret' is in having big sized boundary objects. Something that someone can not discern easily by himself. It would be good to have a related note in the tool's tab I think. RE: Foam insertion - ggaliens - 11-23-2013 You should become a Surface Evolver user. It is AMAZING ! Extremely under-utilized tool. We could use your feedback. |
