RE: [duplicated] Wings immediately exits on startup on 64-bit Windows 10 - oort - 08-21-2015

Wings3D still crashes with this test file. The Kerkythea render window is the only window that stays open until the render is complete.

Strange that you do not have this problem. I have deleted my preferences file and uninstalled Wings3D 2.0 and then reinstalled with the same results.
Thanks,
oort

Ok. We need to discover how to investigate this. Dodgy

oort, I just to try things organized moved our posts from the other thread related to the start wings crash to this one related basely to crash using renders.

RE: Yafaray render crash - oort - 08-21-2015

Something must have changed between the test version of Wings3D that you had e-mailed me and the official Development Release. Everything works fine in the version you e-mailed me.

Thanks,
oort

But, that one wasn't still tagged 2.0, so there is the possibility of many thing has been changed.
Please check your email.

RE: Yafaray render crash - micheus - 08-21-2015

Ok, the problem with Yafaray and Kerkytha render will be fixed in the next update dgud do to the download area.

RE: [fixed] Yafaray render crash - dgud - 08-21-2015

If you close the log/console window it should not crash in the 2.0 either.

Use Wings3d.exe --debug if you want a working console Undecided until next release.

RE: [fixed] Yafaray render crash - oort - 08-21-2015

dgud,
The YafaRay plugin forces the console/log window open every time one renders, so it does not help to close it.

Thanks to Micheus I am ok till the next release.

Thanks,
oort

So you're saying there's no way to have the same menu option do two different things if it's a dropdown menu, even though you can if it's a popup menu? Here's a workaround: What if you split the render menu in two? Call one "render" and the other "render options"?

Also, it would be nice if there were some way to skip the "choose a filename for the render" dialog as well - perhaps that could be moved into the render options, but saved per .wings file rather than globally? It could default to the name of the wings file, of course - e.g. if you're rendering "thingy.wings" then you'd end up with "thingy.tga" or "thingy.png" or whatever, but you could override it if you want.

dgud,
I am surprised you did not know that. That must mean you have never rendered with YafaRay or even old YafRay... Sad The console/log window is used to show the progress of the render.

ekolis,
That is a good idea about adding a separate Render option that does not open the settings dialog, to the file menu. I miss being able to avoid that step. OpenFX does it that way. OpenFX uses two options in the File menu ("Render" and "Render Setup..."). We will have to see if dgud and Micheus like the idea...

Currently, if you have saved your wings file the render file name defaults to the file name and you can change it. Maybe I do not understand what you want... or maybe you want to avoid hitting "Ok".
