Okay, I did. Same difference Biggrin

I'll try later with a clean re-install. It may be that problems are because of customising the preferences. - including using Blender Camera mode. Because, there are other problems no one else using XP is getting. [Edit: XP 32 bit, Pro]

From initial tests, it looks like 2nd Geom Win is not recognised, either for saving or restoring views of Secondary window. Using R-click in View Window, will only save view of Main Geo. Clicking on View Name will only restore to Main Geo.

I can save View in Secondary Geo using Menu. To restore View 2 to Geo 2, I have to click on View 1, then use Alt+V (My shortcut for "Next View").

But thanks for all your efforts. Even with these minor problems (for me only, I think) it is a huge bonus. Smile

Okay, I uninstalled Wings3d pre1.5, deleted the directory, also the .pref file of customisations. Reinstalled to a different directory. But left mlab Wings & Wings 1.4.1 undeleted.

Opening Wings, the old "customised" version opens: white background, all customisation incl. shortcuts working. Windows Menu clearly shows "Selection window" and "Views window" menu items! (Are they already included in wings3d installed?)

Anyway, installed latest views_win plugin by using File|install plugin. Same behaviour as prev post.

I wonder if Wings is accessing "missing" plugins from previously installed files. Anyway, it really doesn't make much difference to me Biggrin

[BTW, when I checked the option to instal "MS DLLs," Windows refused permission: Newer version of msvc++2010 detected on machine."]

(Just in case anyone is interested: )

I deleted preferences.txt, forcing Wings to restart with default interface. Problems still there.

  1. In new file, open a new Geo. Create default cube.
  2. Open Views_window and save view as "1".
  3. Modify the view in any window. Click "1". Nothing happens.
  4. Create orthographic view (X / Y / Z) in Geo2.
  5. R-Click in View_Win to save as "2". Message: "You are at current view"
  6. Repeat in Geo1 & try to save "2" again.Success.
  7. Modify view in any Geo & click "2". Nothing
  8. Click "1:" view "1" restored - but as Orthographic View. Click "2". Ditto.

(BTW, you can save views in Geo 2 using the Views menu. Or relevant shortcut (CTL + SH +v, for me))

Sorry for being a nuisance Sad. But I'm happy that the problem was not with my customisations. So I can restore them Smile

Just a fast answer: tomorrow at night I'll make a full post.
The views are saved in the project, not in the preferences.txt

Thanks for the reply. But, on re-reading your first post, I realised that most of the "problems" are to do with Wings' idea of "current view". Also, with the new snapshot, the problem of not being able to select the first view on the list is no longer there .

That leaves only the problem of 2nd Geo not being usable with the Views Win. But, I think, I'm the only one with that problem. And it is really a minor problem... Biggrin

[Win XP Pro 32bit]

maker, it'll be more clear by asking you about what Geom windows you want to save the view. (to be available in the next snapshot/release)
Anyway, I build a "special" version to be used with the current snapshot (go top). Wink

See it working:

Thanks a lot! Not much spare time today, but I'll test it as soon as I can. (Also the new pov-ray plugin.)

(Even as it is, it's quite wonderful - a real time-saver. Smile )

Since I only use the default geometry window you can disregard what I say here... Smile

I wonder if it would be possible for the plug-in to check to see which geometry window is active when selecting views in the "Saved Views" window. That way you could simply click the "view name" instead of having to tell which geometry window "view name" you want to change to. Just a thought...maybe add an option to RMB on the "view name" to choose a geometry window for those who might want to change the view in an inactive geometry window??? Disregard this idea as needed... Smile

oort, one out of two: either you didn't test it or I didn't understand your comment. Undecided

What you see in the video just shows what I added for the case you are using many Geometry windows. If you are working with only one Geometry window nothing was changed: you just click in the saved name on list and the view is restored.

Micheus,
Yes I did test it and yes you misunderstood my comment... Smile

I saw that when having only one geometry window things are the same, which is why I am ok with it as it is since it does not affect me... Smile

My idea was to make things even better for people who use more than one geometry window... The way it is currently implemented is good too Biggrin
