Micheus ... ACROSS does not mean across the long way ... or across the short way. It just means ACROSS. That's all. My video is in fact plane cutting across the thin faces.
But ... the other way also works for me. See ...

HMMMMMMMMM ... Here ... our long face looks a lot like my street. Weird.

ggaliens, you are doing it correctly in the first vid, but it still does not work on my setup. Which version of Wings are you using, I am using 1.5.3-64 bit on Windows. (I have also just checked windows 1.5.3-32 bit, and that is same result)
I will make a vid to show, but I do not use youtube, so will upload it to a locker for download.

Here is vid showing the example with 2000x2000x2000 cube and 0.5 inset. Plane_cut does not cut all around the cube.

OK. Thanks Stem. I will keep looking at this.
Make sure to show the ABOUT box in the video at the start. Another thing you can do ... which is really due dilligence and not at all over-kill ... would be to supply the actual WINGS3D model rigged with the inset done already. A bit redundant ... but not completely so.
If it works for me and not for you ... then we do have a mystery to solve.

I did check 1.5.3-32 on windows XP-32, that shows same problem. So do not know what else to check at the moment.

It seems painfully obvious to me on first glance that YOUR cube and my cube are not the same ... especially where inset ratio comes in to play.

Let me look at cubes side by side now. Yep ... your inset is WAY WAY smaller than mine for some reason. We need to get to bottom of why that is the case.
Watch my video slow and see if you can catch a difference maker.

Hi ggaliens,
Looking at your vid, you are making inset by 0.5%(percent), not by 0.5 distance. (press 5 before making inset to change to distance rather than by %)

How was I supposed to discover that secret option Stem ? LOL. I don't fault you ... i just want a real gut answer. Let me look at status info line. Maybe it is there and I'm blind.
OK ... so we arbitrarily have some controls on status line and some in dialog box. Interesting. Yep. I found it on the status line.
It still works for me Stem (with 5 key). For completeness ... I will make a video. How about you do something really weird ... can you post a LINK right below to the exact wings installer you want me to use please ?

I download both (stable) 1.5.3 > windows (32b) and Windows(64b) from Wings 3D webpage links:- http://www.wings3d.com/?page_id=84
Both version give me same result.
I checked the 32 bit on win7-64 and winXP-32 with same result
I even checked/tested on "wings3d_1.4.1.2011-09-24---17-38.mlab" (which I still have installed and use for some tools/function) with same result.
Thanks for your time to check.
I will uninstall all wings versions, re-download/install and check again.

OK ... I did it OVER AGAIN ... per our emerging specifications and in fact ... it did not work at all. I'll post the VIDEO. I can now see your issue Stem.
After doing it ... I did it again with MLAB version ... which does have an adjustment thanks to Micheus observations and it worked with MLAB. So ... I think that Mr. Micheus was on target as per usual.

I was looking for download of MLAB, but links I found, such as http://s331378245.onlinehome.us/manifoldlab_releases/ is showing as "Cannot find server at"
I checked your dropbox, with latest version showing as 40hr old, so that will not have the update.
Have you a link for the new version?
