I find it bothersome that "Google" is logged in. - ggaliens - 11-15-2012

I find it bothersome that "Google" is logged in.
At least that is the appearence of the logged in user list at this time.

Google, optigon, ggaliens.

Weird logged in user list.

So I went looking for a user named Google. Perhaps is some kind of "special" user.

Eh ... I'm too nosey I suppose. Bored today.

I looked into it yesterday and will find a way to make them invisible.
There are bots other than Google which I allow to index the data, and they are important for search engine results. I do agree that they should be invisible though.

Or did you mean Google should not have access to the forum?

I would not ban google from a forum. - ggaliens - 11-15-2012

Just as IT guy / troubleshooter I do notice oddities like this and find them curious.

I did sort of figure it was a BOT. It does show up as a "User" in at least on context ... but not others. I just figured it odd that anyone would take that "Screenname" so I looked around a bit.

Now that we know it is a bot ... no more mystery to think about. Bored again. NO burning need to fix I suppose. LOL.

I looked for an option to make the bots invisible, but unfortunately none exists. If I erase the named bots, then they will show up as guests and mess up the stats.

Just don't look them I guess.

Any way to get poster's post to be stamped with time-zone ?

I know this is off topic ... but still topic anway.

I never post at 6:23am anymore. I guess I can prob figure out the
time-zone. Sometimes folks don't set zone on their PCs or forums or whatever.
Did you consider that yet ... if you would even like to set it to something proactively ?

There's no plug-in for timezone autodetect.
But you can set your time zone in the user cp options:

What "Brand" is this forum ? Seems fairly nice.
Thanks for the help.

I did set my time-zone.

It's a MyBB forum, but I customized some of the look and feel.

I chose it because it's free and open source, plus it's got a large active community of developers and users, and there are lots of plugin options.

Glad you like it Smile
