Absolute Command (SCALE) ... - ggaliens - 11-03-2013 Absolute Command (SCALE) ... What are the three LINK check boxes for ? I would have expected one checkbox LINK ... not three. And I could not get them to stay in RATIO. Did I miss something ? RE: Absolute Command (SCALE) ... - puzzledpaul - 11-05-2013 create cube Abs cmnd > scale change x value to 3 tick x and z link boxes. observe change experiment pp RE: Absolute Command (SCALE) ... - ggaliens - 11-05-2013 Does not work as it should. The end result is OK. But the display items at left need to update according to proportions. Try on simple cube ... display does not update. Normally this would not be a problem. But for what would be a slow scale for high-poly model ... don't not inspire confidence to pull the trigger and hit UPDATE button. RE: Absolute Command (SCALE) ... - oort - 11-06-2013 Doing lots of changes and clicking on and off the links does give unexpected results. It would be better if the numbers in the dialog did update to match what is produced. I think I was the one who requested the link feature to avoid having to type the number in each dialog box. There are three check boxes so that you can link x and y without linking z. Maybe there should only be one check box so that all (x,y,z) are updated or none are updated??? oort RE: Absolute Command (SCALE) ... - puzzledpaul - 11-07-2013 Yes, I suppose in an ideal world, it'd be nice if the ticked box(es) 'slaved' to the box with the manually changed dimension did update to show the 'new' number ... ... but what's the user actually going to 'do' with this newly displayed 'number' ... check it against one they've just calculated on a calculator to check wings has got it right? As I see (and have used this - without any problems, I have to say) ...this, I decide on a number that a particular dimension should be, tick relevant box(es) as necessary (2 for a 'radial' scale) and press 'go' I just tried a rad scale on a 100k poly smoothed cube and even on my oldish m/c there was only a short lag for the preview updated - obviously if ppl want to create mega meshes then they'll have to wait a while longer No idea how long it'd take for a coder to mod this ... but I for one wouldn't be pestering them. A single check box would be a big mistake imo as it removes rad scale option and thus user would have to use std radscale and tab entry with appropriate figures. pp RE: Absolute Command (SCALE) ... - ggaliens - 11-07-2013 mega mesh ... https://www.dropbox.com/s/1091esiajuyv6gu/skittles-lady.png RE: Absolute Command (SCALE) ... - Nova - 01-24-2014 I find that if I hit check the relevant link boxes before scaling, I get the desired results. RE: Absolute Command (SCALE) ... - oort - 03-01-2014 Create a sphere 2x2x2. Absolute Scale and check boxes next to Y and Z boxes. Change either Y or Z to 4. The sphere is scaled as expected. Start Absolute Scale of same sphere (2x4x4). Check boxes next to X and Y. Change X to 1 and OK and start Absolute Scale, see that X is 1 and Y is 2. If instead you change Y to 1 and OK and start Absolute Scale, see that X is 0.5 and Y is 1. oort |
