Assigning a material to a face - frans - 01-22-2014

Hi,

In the right mouse face-operations menu is the option Material.
By clicking it I expected to be prompted for a material name, but nothing happens.

Could somebody help please?

Frans

For a new material you need select the option using the RMB (Right Mouse Button).

Pay attention to the Information line when moving through the menu options too. Wink

FYI when you export a Obj .. you get the .mat file with it .. These can be opened and edited in Notepad! ... this is most helpful when Texture images get moved from one directory to another. Notice the Options are the same .. KD for Diffuse KA for Ambient, etc ...

Also, when importing objects into Blender, if you don't tick the option for "Keep Vertex Order", Blender will split your model into Parts according to the Materials. This can be helpful when painting in Sculptris or other app, but a problem when animating, so Save Both! as long as the UV's are the same, the painted textures will work!

And, applying several Materials will mark Seams for UV's where the Material edges are.
