Cloning - desktopsimmer - 01-26-2014 I'm working on a project at the moment that has literally hundreds of the same object, but in different orientations. Is there a way to easily clone a object so that I only have to modify one and it gets replicated across the rest? So far, the 'best' workaround is to use 'Select Similar' and hope if doesn't select something that I don't want to modify. however some of the edits I have to make are not easily modifiable this way. But, depending on how do you need displace your objects you can clone an object easily by using Put On [RMB] command - you just need to select faces where the object would be placed (like selecting random faces in a grid). They will have usually the same orientation. I know that in the past ggaliens had added the Instance resource to his ManifoldLab version. You can find it here and you should ask about it in this session on this forum: ManifoldLab Plug-ins Collection Quote:So far, the 'best' workaround is to use 'Select Similar' and hope if doesn't select something that I don't want to modify.Maybe, use the selection by material would be more precise. Just got to the Outline window, select the material and in the context menu choose Select [LMB]. |
