Idea of new pluging. - denisc - 05-05-2014

hello gallien

Idea of new plug

ex: You are 6 cubes with differents dimensions in a space.

You want replace cube with dodeca for exemple, with the sames proportions and places of your first scene.

title of plug; replace objet group with proportions ?

Is very useful, if you are a group of cubes and you want replace them with a same building .

IN bryce you are the same fonction; replace selection to , but just with

geometric prefab.

it's just an idea.

cheers

You can achieve this effect somewhat by using ggalien's fit-on tool. Select the largest face of your source object, then select the face of one of your cubes. You'd have to flip the object according to the target face though.

Another, and more accurate solution to what you want is to use Wings' built-in bounding box tool. Select your target cube, then go Tools>Bounding Box>Save Bounding Box. Then, select the object you want to move/scale and go Tools>Bounding Box>Scale to saved BB>All and then Tools>Bounding Box>Move to saved BB>All.

Or your built in solution.

RE: Idea of new pluging. - Nova - 05-05-2014

I think if you set up a few hotkeys for Wings' built in functions, this would take no time at all to set up. The only thing missing would be a function to do it for groups, although I suppose you run into the problem of deciding which sources go to which targets (Assuming they aren't the same).

hello

thanks nova and ggaliens for your andswer.

I try the solution with bounding box, This is usefull already , but not accurate enough.

actually , maybe the problem is the group .

I thought group because it is simpler.

If this is not a group , a set of cube can be Selected ?

This is just an idea , I do not make me well aware of the time to do it .

Thank you very much for having me already understood.

cheers
