Wings3d on Dell Win 8.1 tablet: Erratic & twitchy camera motion - Qbist - 11-27-2014 Hi all, here is an odd problem I am having and it seems a tough nut to crack. Maybe one of you knows what is going on. This video shows the behavior: http://youtu.be/z3-qQ8Fzu3M Let me know if you want a Dropbox link to the full quality file. For comparison, here is the same mouse and motion on a Win 7 PC: http://youtu.be/lNQp7RggqUY I am running Wings3d on a Dell 5130 Venue 11 tablet (touchscreen). Here are the specs: OS: Windows 8.1, Processor: Intel Atom CPU Z3770 @ 1.46GHz, RAM: 2.00 GB, System type: 32-bit OS, x64 based processor Here is what I have tried so far. None of those measures have made any difference in the behavior: - Used different mice, including another USB one and a bluetooth one. - Tried much older version of Wings3D (1.2.rc3) - Ran Wings3D in different compatibility modes back to Windows XP - Switched off hardware acceleration: I looked in Wings3D at 'Help > OpenGL info' and it showed 'Vendor: Intel'. I went into 'Device manager > Display adapters > Intel HD Graphics > Driver > Disable' and after that it showed 'Vendor: Microsoft cooperation'. I also looked at Meshlab on the same tabled since it also uses OpenGL. In Meshlab the rotation works perfectly. I am out of ideas here. Any help greatly appreciated! RE: Wings3d on Dell Win 8.1 tablet: Erratic & twitchy camera motion - ggaliens - 11-27-2014 He did try plain microsoft opengl ... at my urging. Apparently ... no change ... still jumpy. RE: Wings3d on Dell Win 8.1 tablet: Erratic & twitchy camera motion - micheus - 11-28-2014 It's probably a SDL issue since ESDL is only a Erlang port to it. Also, there were a lot of complains from gamers about mouse issue after upgrade to Windows 8.1. This article in Microsoft Community give us more information. Here is a "summary" of the issue: Quote:Mouse lag in video games since upgrading to Windows 8.1MS has provided some fix (in that article). Maybe you could check they were already installed in your system. RE: Wings3d on Dell Win 8.1 tablet: Erratic & twitchy camera motion - Qbist - 11-28-2014 Thanks Micheus - this looks very much like what I am experiencing. BUT...I downloaded the update and when I ran it I get a "The update is not applicable to your computer"... Not sure what is going on but I will try to contact Dell and Microsoft about this. Any other ideas? RE: Wings3d on Dell Win 8.1 tablet: Erratic & twitchy camera motion - Qbist - 11-28-2014 After a non-productive and rather annoying episode with Dell customer chat support (they say it is not a hardware issue and therefore they cannot help) I discovered the "Let me fix it myself' section on the MS update page http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2908279#letmefixit and followed the instructions to update the registry like so http://support.microsoft.com/library/images/2908598.png No change, problem remains. Just had a long chat with MS support. The upshot is that this update doesn't work because "it's made for 64bit architecture" - and my Dell is 32-bit. And they tell me to contact Dell. Really helpful. RE: Wings3d on Dell Win 8.1 tablet: Erratic & twitchy camera motion - Qbist - 11-29-2014 OK, I finally found the solution. In the compatibility tab (right click on .exe file, click on 'properties') go to 'change settings for all users' and check 'Disable display scaling on high DPI settings'. That does it! RE: Wings3d on Dell Win 8.1 tablet: Erratic & twitchy camera motion - micheus - 11-29-2014 Thanks for share this information. RE: Wings3d on Dell Win 8.1 tablet: Erratic & twitchy camera motion - ggaliens - 11-29-2014 Micheus for President !!!! Thanks for the help Micheus. Good luck Qbist. RE: Wings3d on Dell Win 8.1 tablet: Erratic & twitchy camera motion - Qbist - 11-30-2014 I second that |
