Sometime I find after editing an object (usually with extrude) the centre point of the object is no longer in the centre. Is there any way I can make Wings recalculate the centre point?
The specific example is a very simple box which is subdivided into several equal parts, but then one small part is extruded on one side.
The box is 17 on the X axis, so the X centre point should be at 8.5, but it's not.
I did a bit more googling on this and I believe this may be because the absolute move tool calculates the centre from the vertexes, which gives a non-useful value in this instance. It would need to calculate the centre from the bounding box in this instance because the vertexes are not evenly spread on the X axis.
Update: I worked out how to do it. If I use the middle button and select all the faces on one side of the object, then this forces the correct centre point.
Thinking about it... sometimes it would be really useful to be able to just type in a reference point. Is there any way to do that?
For most the common operations like Move, Scale, Rotate,... you will find options in which you can input the "pivot" for these operations.
Remember to check the Information Line (or the tooltip/balloon) to see which options a command offers to you (each mouse button). Then, after choose it, pay attention to the Information line to know the required parameters you need to input.
The way Wings3D works, you can pick a reference point for these commands by selecting vertices, edges, faces or the entire body (not necessarily one) - this will result in an average position that will be used as input for the command.
