Except that in "Primitive -> Image..." you can load particular patterns as Grid, Vertical Bars etc.. in Outliner , "File -> Import Image" do exactly the same.

The use of this Textures seems exactly the same by a drop over a material except that you can choose non square texture!

Did I miss something?

By the way, what is the use of the particular patterns and why you can choose non square texture?

As the name says, Primitive Image are images of a specific pattern created by Wings3D internally. On the other hand, Import Image allow us to load any image available externally. The drag and drop feature is a easy way to use that option.

They surely are not the same thing.
