Simple Animation Software

I'm looking for a simple, open source animation software (in the spirit of Wings) to be able to introduce 3d animation to young and old beginners. Blender is too complex. And the only other software I know that does 3d animation is K-3d, but it's dead right now.
Anyone have any good ideas about software?

I enjoyed using OpenFX many years ago. It is simple to use. The latest update was in 2017 so it is not much more alive than K-3D is. You can import OBJ files into the Modeler and then use those in the Animation part of the software. Here is a link to the website. OpenFX oort

I totally forgot about OpenFX. I used it for a minute back in the day, but couldn't really get into it.
I know Art of Illusion is still around and being slowly developed. But the UI is not really intuitive, nor good for beginners.
