1) Do people use Wings3D because their camera mode is supported?
Probably not. Wings is enjoyed for many other reasons.

2) Would people stop using Wings3D is we stop supporting their camera mode of choice?
They might stop updating their version to keep the camera mode they are used to... unless new and enticing features make it more reasonable to update.

3) Is it very difficult to learn a new camera mode?
At first perhaps yes. However the constant requirement to adjust the camera will make learning to use any camera easier through repetition. Also, in reality there are really only 2 or 3 main functions to learn to operate the camera efficiently.

While Nendo and Mirai may be extinct. . . wings3D became it's spiritual successor. It would be very disappointing to me personally if this method of interacting with my scene/camera were lost to me in future versions of the software. :-(

BTW, this method of interacting with models goes way way back before Marai. Nichiman's N-Tools and then before that Symbolics' Graphics Division's modeling program. Deep deep muscle memory.

Myself, I would love to see options for affecting the camera with joystick, or at least keystrokes to which I could then map my sticks. I use a Wacom graphics tablet for much of my work, but it sucks for handling the camera; slaving the camera to a joystick would help with that. I use a Logitech gamepad, with two analogue sticks. It sits nicely at my left hand, next to my Wacom, and I use it for panning/zooming in Inkscape and Synfig. I wish I could do the same in Wings.
