I am using 64bit Debian Linux SID.

8 core AMD CPU, GTX 980ti GPU with latest nvidia drivers.

Wings3D version 2.1.5 installed with apt-get from the main debian repositories.

When I am rotating around my model or zooming in and out of the model there are very abrupt and distracting pauses. In preferences I found the setting for "Camera moves and interactive commands are jumpy". I turned it on but it does not appear to have any change in this behavior.

Is this a large model, many materials?

It happens even when there are no models at all. Just a blank grid. It seems to get much worse when I'm trying to do an operation. Like extrude or tweak. . . but just loading up Wings, middle clicking to get into the spin around mode. . . it stops and starts constantly. Just to confirm I downloaded the run file for 1.5.4 and it is smooth as butter. Undecided

I don't really know what to do about that, linux works best for me currently,
at least when I have many large models.
Tough some gtk bugs causes issues when resizing internal windows sometimes..

What linux distro are you using and would it be possible for you to create an appimage of your working version to eliminate variables that might have been introduced by the Debian repository? http://appimage.org/

I don't know anything about appimage, is that like docker?

How does that work gui stuff?
I mean deps (on my current build machine) will need to nvidia drivers?

The official build was done on ubuntu-14.04 with wxWidgets-3.0.2.
My comments was with ubuntu-16.04, and my current optimizations,
but I have had mouse-stuttering on linux before 2.1.5, but thought
2.1.5 was better.

I'm on Debian so I was avoiding the .run file thinking it wouldn't work. I was wrong. It worked fine. Sorry. Not only did it work fine but there was no pausing.

So then I went and did an #apt-get install wings3d. . . and there was a new version in the repository. And that version doesn't pause either. So case closed! I can get back to using the latest version of wings! Thank you for helping.
