You don't. Not as you can do in other 3D application like 3ds Max.

The easier way you will get that area closed is using Bevel command in that selection and move your mouse a little (or you can hit [TAB] and in the Numeric Input dialog inform the value) and then finish the command with [RMB] (Right Mouse Button).

This action will result in a very tinny surface that will be selected when the command ends. Now, without deselect anything you must use the Dissolve command [Bksp]. It's closed!
