your log is slight different from the one reported before. Both shows in the message "error, no_gl_context", but they are preceded by different action. This one sees to be related to the drawing grid operation.
I cannot reproduce it in my PC (Windows 10 and NVidea GPU) with the v2.1.7 with all bug fixes, so it's hard to try to figure out what is happening in your system.
Did you applied the patches only for the v2.1.7 or do you have used any other from a previous version too?
As a test purpose, could please you disable the grid before to use the create texture command and see if the problem can be workaround by this action?
I also would like to ask you for the header of your dump file that was absent from the one you sent me. It's something like this:
