Dune Table

Hallo together,

I am new in WIngs3D.

I want to sculpt the Dune Table from Zaha Hadid. http://www.davidgillgalleries.com/data/m...table.jpeg

Could someone help me, or give me some tips how to start.

Ok ... so you followed me over to Wings3D ... Good!
The table your looking at is sculpted and would be more time consuming than I have for this ... but I'll show you a basic starter then you can work from there...

First I'm using the Manifoldlab version.. Mines kinda special build as I've added plugins and custom UI ... but go to https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3cwsi5kvm0jeiae/MI5-gFdPqM and use the wings-1.5.0.2013-02-10---11-57.mlab.exe version should have it ...

Now I started with a cube, extruded two sides, then just moved the back face out. I connected the two longer edges, and tesselated the long-corner polygons to make the first shape. Then I selected the whole object, switched to Polygon mode and used Divide Rigidly from the "Lots more" menu (Manifoldlab). Then I selected some polygons from the bottom and extruded downward for the legs. I smoothed (subdivided) the whole object once, then used move and tweak to shape it better. I added a nice rim using extrude on a edge-loop and then beveling the result. Then I used hard-edge marks to mark the seams before UV-mapping.
As you learn to use Wings3d, you will find simple tricks that will help you along the way. You can set almost any function on a Keyboard Shortcut, and many are already set. Also notice functions like Flatten .. x,y,z ... For something like a table this can be very useful!! ...

I rendered this in Daz Studio, with a Photo-background. This was a fun project.

Took another stab at it ... this one's more what your looking for.
No tutorial, don't remember all the steps ...
Started with a cube .. scaled x ... scaled y to flatten, subdivided along x by 6. subdivided along z by 2. extruded opposite corner ends down. From there I added edge-loops and moved things around, more loops, more moving. One thing I can advise, the tweek function always curves inwards. It's very useful, but you have to out-think it. Add single edge-loops, then move things around, this will give you nice tilts, then add more loops and use tweak and sculpt to smooth things out. Sculpt and Tweek are things you gotta play with and learn .. there's settings ... I've had mine set up for a long time ... don't really remember what all I've changed .. the Magnets, brush size ..... plus many of the hot-keys have changed as Wings3d has evolved ... yours can be different from mine ....

I downloaded the variation with manifold from your folder; thank you. I have seen there a folder called voronoi. Is this a plugin for wings3D?

I will try to build the table with your instructions, but first, I must explore wings a little bit.

Yes, the ManifoldLab version has many Plugins ... some are so useful I keep them on Keyboard shortcut! ..
-Expand selection to "Charted Region" I keep on Shortcut .. very Useful! ... I also jump into sculpt mode often, keep that on shortcut. I use Edge "Hard/Smooth" often, keep those on shortcut. Also notice the Notification bar at the bottom, Many functions have different option for Left/Middle/Right - clicking. It takes a bit of practice, but Wing3d is probably the Fastest and easiest to model in, besides Zbrush. And I've found ways to generate geometry very similar to Zbrush in Wings3d! ... I do use Blender from time to time, Shrinkwrap and Cloth-sim are great
