I would like to cleanup before proceeding.
When I press cleanup it says that : dissolving would cause a badly formed face

Is this correct behaviour?

It's a usual warning message for this command. You will see it even in W3d 1.5.xxx - It's not new.
It's, maybe, calling part of collapse code. Need to check the sorces to be sure.
