Maybe the software should just add that step.

I understand, but we use our human eyes to see that as obvious. The software don't really know we are cutting a pipe in such situation. It could be different parts of the pipe and weld that would not be our intention.

But, if we were talking about boolean operations, then I agree it should to know about that.
