Good to know someone was able to follow one or my tutos.
In my opinion, the light is better in the last image.
The material for the IC's legs should be less reflexive and then they don't changes too much its color depending on the light (you may consider to look for some image references for a better comparison).
About the render. I'm also a POV-Ray fan and I used it a lot in the past. After we start to use tolls in which we can see the material changes faster it's almost impossible get bak to a render like it.
So, currently I still use Kerkythea which file is exported by Wings3D and in the render UI I can handler material details.
If you are already experienced in use Cybles/Eevee there is no reason to try other free option.
