Yeah, the dump file can help us to find things we didn't guess it would happen.
Since some situation may happen only for the model you built, we appreciate if we can have access to the problematic ones (it can be sent to that wings3d email - if it cannot be public

I would like to suggest you to show the mesh in these situations too. The dialog would be moved a little, but in the small portion I can noticed that maybe both objects have some edges that are overlapping each other (just a guess).
Maybe after the first try you changed something ?!
Did you tried to increase the subdivision for the panel object and see what happen?
